KANSAS CITY, Mo. — It started this summer with Taylor Swift’s Era’s Tour and its continued through the entire Kansas City Chiefs football season.
Area businesses that have always been on the Chiefs bandwagon are starting to cater to the Swifties as well.
Tea Market in the Crestwood Shops in Kansas City, Missouri, has concocted two Chiefs brews that won’t leave you hungover on Monday morning.
KC Dynasty is a black tea blend made bright red from hibiscus and plums and has already become a favorite for Chiefs tea drinkers.
Now, there’s a white “SwifTEA” blend to add to the menu. It’s purple because of pea-flowers.
“The first one is KC Dynasty, that one is bright red and robust,” Tea Market Owner Stacie Robertson said. “It has a nice strong flavor, very cinnamony and sweet, very forward. The other one we blended for Taylor Swift and we call it SwifTEA. It’s soft gentle purple sparkly floral fruity delicious. Super light on the caffeine LC Dynasty is a little heavier on the caffeine.”
The SwifTEA actually has organic edible sparkles in it. Both loose leaf teas come with directions on how to brew them and if you can’t decide which one to get, you’re in luck. You can buy them together as part of Tea Market’s “KC Swoon” collection, just in time for the playoffs and Valentines Day.
“It’s so exciting because everyone is obsessed and you can take some of the things the city is so excited about and create your own little spin-off,” Robertson said. “Kansas City is such a good sports town and when people are excited about stuff, it gives small businesses like Tea Market an opportunity to play off of that excitement and make our own products and celebrate the things that are going on in our own way that are unique just to Kansas city. Kansas City is such a great small business town.”
