Trucking company XPO Inc. plans terminal in western Shawnee

XPO Inc. hopes to put down roots soon on a growing industrial corridor in northwest Johnson County.

The Connecticut-based transportation company, a new player in the KC area, wants to create a 180,000-square-foot truck freight development on about 45 undeveloped acres just off Kansas Highway 7 in Shawnee.

The project will be east of K-7 on the north side of 43rd Street. The land sits to the east of an Amazon facility and the Bonner Springs Industrial Park and to the south of land earmarked for Shawnee’s future Kaw Lake Park.

The proposed transportation hub also will be near Heartland Logistics Park, which is on the west side of K-7 near 43rd Street.

At a Feb. 9 meeting, the Shawnee City Council voted to send the rezoning request back to the planning commission.
