KANSAS CITY, Mo. — If you’re looking for a unique spot for Chiefs-themed photo ops ahead of the big game, the Family Tree Nursery locations in Overland Park and Shawnee unveiled a new red KC plant display for fans to stop by and take pictures.
“It’s actually arborvitae plants that have been shaped into this KC, and since the Chiefs are going to the Super Bowl, we thought, let’s flock it red, and we were just hoping that people would want to stop by and take some pictures by it and check out what we do,” Family Tree Nursery General Manager Mark Titzman said.
The plants were grown and shaped into the KC letters in Oregon and then shipped to the Family Tree Nursery.
As the Chiefs head to the big game, staff at the Family Tree Nursery decided it was the perfect time to turn it red for fans to enjoy.
“It took about three or four years to get these grown and shaped and trimmed into this,” Titzman explained. “There is wire in there to shape them into the KC. When they get them ready, they ship them to us so we can sell them.”
You can stop by the Overland Park and Shawnee Family Tree Nursery locations for pictures next week, Monday through Saturday, during business hours from 9 a.m.-5 p.m.
