Kansas City is working to build its reputation as a sports town — and make use of its newest stadium — by submitting nearly two dozen bids to host NCAA championships.
The Kansas City Sports Commission said it has submitted 23 bids to host NCAA championship events between 2026 and 2028.
Among the city’s bids are to host the Division I men’s and women’s soccer championships. It proposes to hold the events at CPKC Stadium, which will open next month along the Berkley Riverfront as the home of the Kansas City Current.
Kansas City also is bidding to host Division I men’s basketball at the T-Mobile Center downtown and the Division II Fall Festival, which includes men’s and women’s cross country, women’s field hockey, men’s and women’s soccer, and women’s volleyball.
